Doge practice by Dogezon Doge practice by Dogezon
Doge is mine :3

...

Equipment used:

HB pencil and a black pen that I randomly found in my room =P
...

Time Taken: No clue, half an hourish I'd guess.

...

So yeah, after a full month I'm trying to get back into drawing... how's it looking so far? Lost my touch? Well that'd imply I had a touch to begin with... umm. Can you notice its been a month?

A suggestion for his cutie mark: if it's a "h" for Hospitality, then might I suggest turning the h into a twig that looks like a h? You could add little leaves on it too, and if you want to be fancy you could make a dove be holding it (so that a viewer can still tell it's a "h") in which it would become a metaphor for hope as well, like the dove in Noah's Ark.

What do you think?

AHA! I knew it was here somewhere! (And it turned out to be on the exact same page)

And there you go, the thing that looks almost exactly like a "h" stands for "h"ospitality.

I designed his cutie mark and I think I know what it means and is.

The lines are not parallel; they curve away from each other. It is NOT a H for hospitality, though feel free to interpret it as such, in my eyes.

Well instead of acting annoyed, why not just tell us what it means? <_<

I'm not acting annoyed. :3

Simply putting my point across, granted in may be interpreted as passive aggressive but I assure you it's not meant to be.

Ah, yeah, Doge means 'leader'. It was a term used by the Kings of the Italian Republics in the Middle Ages, where they would be elected from a counsel of lesser nobles by the lesser nobles. Examples include Venice, Genoa, and Lucca : D

Well you learn something new everyday. I suppose "Doge" gave the Italian states a distinctly different cultural system as to stop them becoming amalgamated with the rest of Europe which, more or less, shared the same system of goverment. Well I say that... but I only study Tudor England :3

Yeah, for some reason most people like to design fantasy things after England for some reason, despite all the fairy tales coming from Germany, so most people will study England just because of how romanticized it is XD (And it gets so old sometimes <X^X>)...well, yeah, it was that and partially that their culture naturally called for it. Before the Italian states there were the Ostrogoths (had a civilian Senate) and the Romans (had a civilian Senate), so I guess they just modeled after those. The Normans down below them in Southern Italy, as in Sicily, still had a normal feudal system though.

Oh, OK. (By gets old by the way, I mean repeating some things that British-based fantasy tended to do a while ago-- me being a crossbow and handgonne enthusiast, that includes that every archer uses a Longbow and the misconception that guns didn't coexist with castles.)

No, unfortunately not. I study a lot of Byzantine history, though, and Late Rome. Mostly to draw writing material from, but I'm also minoring in Medieval History in college, so the interest helps schoolwork as well : D

I study, I guess you'd say majoring in, English and American History, English Literature and Classical Civilisation in College. Quiet interesting stuff. Mainly the warfare side though... I love the Napoleonic, and Colonial, Warfare that we study. Oh and the American Civil War, very interesting.

He can... but not if the man being glomped wants to be awkward and generally annoying. Which he does.
