Project Scootabot: Wings by Dogezon Project Scootabot: Wings by Dogezon
Time taken: 9 hours

Pencils used: 2H, HB, B

I'm ... okay with this.

The wing design for Scootabot.

She's by no means complete yet, though I relish the thought of designing the rest of her!

Thoughts? (Constructive criticism is welcomed)

This really surprised me!
The wings has some really cool details, I weren't expecting that at all!!
And the details you have written down about where it will bend and how much makes this even more cooler!!
I wish there was some more details on the pony, just to make this pop out a little bit, but hey this is amazing just the way it is!!
Good work!

I like how you created the metallic feeling :) really nice! :D

But now I would like to know how she could fly with holes in her wings, but hey maybe that's magic ;3
What do you think?

"Zeerust" or "Retro-Futuristic" as it's otherwise known. Effectively it's a form of design based on classical ideas of the future - Flying Cars, Tin Can Robots etc, etc.

We usually tend to see this sort of thing used on fictional WWII era machines though - some of the better examples being the Dust Tabletop Game, which use plenty of machines in this sort of style.

I think that several long-duration low-impulse solid rockets would do the trick just fine.

Nifty intricate design for that wing there. Discarding whether or not the thing's primary function is even plausible in its current state, I still nonetheless like it! :)

The design may be absolutely nuts, but I like it. I don't know why, properly the shading.

The shading provided for each individual wing is a nice touch. I just think that coupled with the rest of the connecting pieces makes it a most curious looking object.

I also plan on designing other parts for a robotic scootaloo.

Once EVERYTHING is finalised, I'll draw one complete picture me thinks.

And yeah, that shading was annoying :D

I would ask that, given the appearance of this wing, if this robotic Scootaloo is going to be in the same vain as Steampunk in terms of overall design, but that would spoil much of the fun of seeing the completed picture down the road, so I'll refrain. ;P

Haha, I'd imagine it to be nothing less!

Wow, that is some serious complexity there. You must have a heroic attention span to spend 9 hours on a pencil drawing. Or perhaps I just have a really bad one. I don't think I've ever spent more than 2 hours doing anything. And that includes watching movies that are longer that 2 hours. I have such a short attention span that the films shrink themselves down to redacted versions, just out of the sheer weight of short-attentioness.

Oh yeah, I get easily side-tracked too...

......
what was I saying?

Made me chuckle.

Yeah, 9 hours is a long time I guess. I don't know. Time flies by when I'm drawing, it's only when I stop and look at the time that I realise how long I've spent. Is it complex? I can't tell, really honest and true I can't. Is it technically okay? That's what I'm really worried about.

Technically, it's stunning. Really. The shading on the "feathers" is immense.

On a serious note, when shading it, it hurt my eyes.

So many lines, so close together... *gets dizzy*

Thank you :D

You asking robots or chickens on tumblr.

Led to me designing a comic.

Which led to me designing the Robot Chicken design as a panel.

Which led to me wanting to design Scootabot.

Which led to this.

They'll be designed separately, but then put together at the end.

I imagine that the end design will take quite some time :D

Drawing all those bits and bobs again O_O

Love it!! even though it makes no sense xD
Mechanical stuff are always awesome!
You might want to look at how simple mechanical arms work and use it to draw the base of the wings... just an example. I always try to learn how things work before making/drawing them ;)

:iconpinkiepieplz: What fun is there in making sense!

I just drew, drew, and drew. I have no clue about mechanics, absolutely none. I kind of guess that the wings will fold into each other. That said that cog is in no way strong enough to support it :D

I might read up on mechanics, so I can actually design something half viable :D

Thanks though.

xD true true, doesnt have to make sense but making it seem plausible will make it look a lot more facinating ;D trust me!
